He posted on Memorial Day that he ran 18 miles averaging 5:36 pace with an average HR of 138. That’s at altitude in Utah. Dude is fit!

I cab’t share an Instagram story (as opposed to sharing a post), because stories expire in 24 hours, but I provided literally every relevant piece of information: the distance, pace, heartrate, and location.

I have served you yet another downvote for your manners.
Does anyone remember Rupp running 4:50s and his hr not getting over 150? Or his lr of 5:28 average with a 4:28 at the end, I’d say both more impressive than fishers.
Yeah.....130 anything at 5:36 pace is amazing. Normally, you'd expect some cardiovascular drift to higher HR on a long run like that. Must have been hydrating pretty well along the way.

I would to do that almost every Sunday in college and I was only a 29:05 NAIA guy. I don't think Grant is going near VO2 on these runs they are probably just relaxed tempo.

Is an 18mile run at like 90s slower than 5k pace really that remarkable? Seems like a standard easy run…
I mean his HR avg would indicate it was easy. If it was run at park city - close to 7000 ft its closer to 70s slower which is a good indication of his aerobic strength with that HR. Who knows how that translates to a 5k or 10k.
To be fair, HR varies from athlete to athlete. 138 HR could be 65%, 70%, 75% of his max. We don’t know for sure. What we do know is that Grant is fit and that workout probably wasn’t too difficult for him. Just a steady long run.
