I'm upgrading my watch and seeking opinions on the new Garmin AMOLED displays (165, 265, 965, Epix Pro). Apparently the display dims and then responds to a wrist movement to light back up. I've seen some reviews online that claim this display on/off is finicky and annoying. So I'm seeking some feedback before dropping the cash on a new watch.
Confused how yours dies so fast. I have a 965 which is the same screen and supposedly slightly lesser battery life. When I set up my watch for "Always on" it consistently got a week straight between charges, with 10+ hours of GPS per week plus sleep tracking etc. Your Epix should be lasting way longer.
With "always on" off and gesture on, I can go 2-3 weeks no problem. The 5-8 days you mention seems like a defective watch? You should be getting weeks of battery life with those settings, not days.
To the OP:
I will never own a MIPS Garmin again after my AMOLED model. It is so much easier to see under essentially all light conditions (pictures do not show the difference properly. DCR has mentioned before that is due to how cameras capture light/reflections), and it is especially nice having a decent quality screen when not working out and I just want a half decent smartwatch.
