Just because they aren't on the list doesn't mean that they were necessarily left out.
Some people turn down their invite. And other people have accepted their invitation but their names haven't been put on the list yet. I know one girl who said it took 2 weeks from the time she accepted to the time her name appeared on the list of entrants.
my bad I thought the entries they had now were the final entries.
My instinct says that the hoka mile this year will be big. Brooks Pr mile could be a hit or miss. You have some really fast guys like Jojo Jourdon, Martin Barco, Owen Powell and the rest of the field has potential. It's not out of the possibility we will see a Simeon birnbaum in that field but I don't think that will happen.
The 3200 has drew Griffith, Nathan Neil, Ryan pajak. I can see that being pretty interesting
It’s the same date as Nike outdoor, but I can’t imagine anyone choosing NON over Brooks PR. Maybe people are choosing U20 over Brooks?
Brooks is the same week as U20, Nike, and New Balance. And at least one state also has their state meet that week. Runners can't do all the meets.
Since were at that point in the season, it's time to say this again:
The current US nationals system SUCKS. It's really bad.
You have:
Nike, in Eugene obviously, super out-of-the-way
New Balance on the same day, in Franklin field, the worst possible place they could choose
Brooks, the same week of (no complaints about Brooks)
Adidas, either the same day as Nike and New Balance or the week after
USATF U20s, which is around the same time as well. Luckily, we are actually taking a U20 team this year. Good thing USATF got their head out of their ass.
Ignoring the fact that you have 5 different meets now, NIL means that many of the top high schoolers HAVE TO go to either Nike or New Balance, basically splitting the fields in half. Since Brooks is in Seattle and New Balance is in Philly, if you want to or have to go to New Balance you basically can't go to Brooks - and if you do, don't expect to run well 1-2 days later after a 6 hour plane ride.
I don't expect any of this too change but when you list out the various "nationals" its astonishing what we make these athletes go through to compete against the best. It shouldn't be that way. Again, I don't expect anything to change because shoe companies are greedy and stupid, but I wish USATF or something forced everyone to combine and form one big national high school/u20 meet in a big city with lots of transportation and and a nice 9 lane track that gets good weather. Austin would be great.
