Anyone got some secret running tech? Like maybe doing a 5k every second day at race pace and every other day do 200M-250M anaerobic repeats at the hardest effort possible with 5min+ rest between each. Like no aerobic work? I mean, I broke 20 by never doing aerobic slow runs when I was like 19. Also, I only ran a 5k at race pace everyday, I felt like I could have gotten faster if I continued but people told me to run slow, increase my mileage and that injured me. I was content doing 15-20Mpw or less. Is there substance here? I've been training for over a year(20-30mpw), all aerobic+tempo work and I've not improved at all. Back when I was 19, I was dropping minutes off my 5k every month. I went from 34min 5k to sub 20 in like a year. Now I am 35, been doing aerobic+hard workout 80/20 and I've gone from 34min to 26:30, no where close to what I was doing in my 20s. Feel like if I just stuck to running 5ks at race pace everyday, I would be a lot better off than this 80/20 training everyone raves about. Even if you take the 20lbs of extra weight I am, that is still only 2minutes off my time, and I went from 34min to 24:30 within 2-3 months when I first started at 19. Assuming the weight wasn't here, that 26:30 only becomes 24:30, no where near sub 20. Not liking this 80/20 at all, looking for some new tech.
