sit down and list your GPA, SAT, PRs in all events, and note all your key finishes. take that info, UT and other schools have an online questionaire, you could compose an email, you could write them a letter with a resume hitting all the important information.
if you're the kid who made the podium in TX 6A 1600, and top 20 in XC, you definitely mention that.

Get good times and good placements and then email the assistant coach (possibly the head coach too) for your event group.
