I am starting my base training after I ran ~950 for 3200 this season. However, when I stopped swimming (I come from a swimming background and still do it often) and dropped running volume my times started going up very quickly, where my last meet I went about 1015. If I run ~55 miles a week during my base, do y’all think adding some continuous swimming or long distance swimming sessions (like 8x400 threshold) will help my aerobic base for XC? I improved about 40 seconds in the 3200 this year and am looking to run around 1545 this year.
