Remember in 2022 when everyone said US 1500m running was super weak? We are so back

Rupp was 2nd in the 10,000m and 5th in the 5,000m at the Olympics though.
we’ll see how Hocker does relative to the other studs with super shoes.

*Dr. Brown
Yeah, have to agree, the shoes have put everything in perspective. I hope the US sends the best team, and not the top 3 in a one race finals. I wonder if other countries look at us as foolish for how we choose our Olympic team.

Hocker was already 6th in the Olympics at 19

You will get one bronze in Paris and it won’t be a male

But he looked 39.
He will be 23 in 22 days.

100%. Peach Pit, ever heard of Ingebringtsen, Wightman, Kerr?
Nuguse has a shot at Bronze, Hocker has zero chance at anything.
Is Jakob still running?
I have not seen any results for him recently. I do see however results for:
Filip: 3:38.91
Henrik: 13:33.6
I think that they are not with their old coach anymore.
Hope that Jakob makes a comeback.
The landscape is not quite what it once was.
12:55 is the old 13:08. Lets sit back and see how many podium
finishes there are by Americans over the next few Olympic and World Championships.
In 1995 the world record was 12:55
Now 12:55 is 20 seconds off the world record.

Great range from Hocker to go with top notch closing speed. He's obviously a miler but has real chops at 3k and now 5k. Might drift up in distance in his later 20s.

Everyone hates it when you mention the shoes but there has been a pretty big shift in times since they’ve become commonplace. Someone smart should do the math but it does feel like something shifted.

In 1995, the world record went down to 12:44.3, which still qualifies as a top performance in 2024.
BTW: was Cheptegei’s 12:35 done in supershoes in Aug 2020?
