I am trying to run a sub 16 5k. My current track PRs are 4:15, 9:03, and 2:09. What can I do over the summer to make this possible? I can't change my mileage too much, and I am currently on just below 40 miles a week.

why can't you change your mileage too much? you're going to have to. bump it to 50-55 easy and then add in some tempos and long repeats towards the end of summer. start racing. then change the workouts to 5k specific stuff. boom. that's the formula

If you can run 9:03 for 2 miles you can break 16 tomorrow if you try. You don't need to change a thing.
