Woke up with a small and hurtful lump under armpit - tumor ?

More than likely a swollen lymph node. Could also be an ingrown hair. You’re gonna live, soldier.

This has happened to me a couple times. Random painful bump, hurts to lift the arm all the way up. The first time it happened I was freaked out but it went away. I ended up with a cold a few days later. Other times it’s happened without me getting sick. Doc doesn’t seem too concerned.

Cyst or gland. If you have a fever go to a Doctor, you might need antibiotics for an infection.

Most likely, it's a swollen lymph gland. There are multiple causes, but the most likely are a bacterial or viral infection or inflammation from a nearby injury... your basketball dunk attempts for example. It could also be cancer, but that's far less likely.

If you have any other symptoms (fever) or if it doesn't go away in a couple of days or if it gets worse, you should see a doctor or go to an urgent care clinic. Antibiotics are typically prescribed. You could also go to a pharmacist and ask at the counter for advice.

I've gotten this a few times over the years. Each time, the pain/swelling goes away after a few days.

As stated above, it's likely a swollen lymph node, infection or ingrown hair. It can also be a symptom of some other inflammatory condition, like fever or COVID.

Unlikely to be cancer, but if it continues or occurs frequently, I'd get it checked out.

It's not a tumor. I used to get this every 6-12 months. Usually if I wasn't diligent about showering after exercise. It could also appear after a long international flight with disrupted sleep. It's the beginning of an infection. An ointment called bactroban is very effective but you need a prescription. I've had doctors over react and give me strong antibiotics that made me feel sick and gave me a rash. Polysporin ointment and washing it repeatedly usually gets rid of it in 3-4 days. Coincidentally (?) I haven't had it in about 5 years now, ever since I started a daily vitamin E supplement...

Swollen lymph node, result of your hoops dreams, bug bite…all much more likely than a tumor. It seems unlikely that you “woke up and there was a tumor!”

I feel your pain though. I went to the doctor a few years ago for a mysterious bump on my temple which had me thoroughly freaked out. In my defense, the doctor had a bit of trouble deciding what it was, but it was just a vein becoming more prominent with age.

That is why you are advised over and over to not overextend muscles. It’s carcinogenic. See what you’ve done now.

It is either Monkey Pox or a swollen lymph node.

For the readers, cancer would feel more like a wooden ball in there, and it usually would not hurt. If it is tender and feels like something fleshy - even if firm - it is most likely a swollen lymph node.

Probably a swollen lymph node, as many others have said, especially if it has come shown up rapidly. Mine swell up when I get sick or get a vaccine shot. This is normal given the immune response to an illness/vaccine.

You can apply a warm compress to ease the pain. Could be other things as well ( injury, bite etc..) but considering the location I would guess it's a lymph node.

How old are you?

Teenager? Early 20s?

hate to tell you that you... have arm pit cancer. we will remove your pit, leaving you with a much large pit, so you will still have a pit.. it just wont the pit you are used to.
