Hey! I am training for a sub 2:50 marathon. I hope I could get some help/feedback on how reasonable the goal is, or what to work on.
Monday - 6 miles easy @ 8:10 pace
tuesday- 6 miles easy @ 8:10 pace + 4*10 sec finish strides
Wednesday - 10 min warmup, 20 min @6:26, 3 min easy, 15 min @6:04, 3 min easy, 10 min @5:43, 3 min easy, 5 min @5:27, 10 min cooldown
Friday - 30 min easy @ 8:10, 30 min steady @ 7:30
Saturday - 5.5 miles easy @ 8:10 pace + 4*10 sec finish strides
Sunday - 3 mile warmup, 14 mile @6:26, 3 mile cooldown
About 60 mile total week. I've averaged 40 miles a week for the past 8 months.
This is my second to biggest week this far, now going into the taper with just over 2 1/2 weeks to go until the marathon june 1st. The 14 miles at marathon pace this sunday felt very good, but I am still not sure if sub 2:50 is a reasonable goal.
One month ago I raced a half marathon and landed on 1:21, first half averaging 6:18/mile and second half 6:02/mile. Completely out of energy after the race. I also ran a marathon one year ago, finishing in 3:22. I trained very little and did not know much about how to race it. This year I have more of a plan and way more training.
