Greetings all. I am a 44yr old male, and have 6wks to go until a half-marathon in Tromso, Norway, which i believe is relatively flat. I have run a 1h35 in the past (c. 4yrs ago, as part of a 3h25 marathon that didn't quite go as planned), and at the time was running c. 40mi/wk. my 5000m time was then c. 18'30, and 10k time just under 40'.
However, I now run just 10-15mi/wk and haven't raced in 3yrs... so have slowed down considerably and consequently feel pretty unfit.
What do members think i can do if i want to try to get as fit as i can in 6wks, to beat my PB, and ideally go sub-1h30? Is it even remotely possible..? If so, what sort of programme should i follow? But if not, how do i determine a sensible (i.e. ambitious, but possible) target time to work towards?
Obviously i'm not expecting a training programme here, but any thoughts or ideas as to what i might read to help determine the art of the possible would be really helpful, as i've currently no idea where to start, other than following HADD's guide, running 5mi/day, a long run at the weekend and hoping for the best...
Thank you all very much.
