Shout out to Montana State Head Coach Lyle Weese. Genuine good guy and really taking his programs in the right direction. Word on the street is they’re getting their second indoor track facility with a 300m track…
Young, Sahlman and Las Heras all tripled for NAU. MSU just killed it.
What was Sahlman's third event?
I see he won the 1500 and 800 over Nico which is what I'd expect (Nico may be better in a rabbited affair but not unrabbited 1500) and Nico won the 5000 but I don't see a third event for Sahlman. If he'd run the 5000 and managed a point, then they would have won by 1 as a Montana State guy got 8th.
Wait, I just found it. He anchored the 4 x 400. ANyone have a split? Sounds like a fun meet.
Also I only see two events for Las Heras - 1500 (did not score) and 5000 (7th).
In hindisght, a key to Montana State's win was that Ben Perrin (13:30 pb) and Matthew Richtman (13:47 pb) beat the 4 NAU 5000 scoreres not named Nico Young in the 5000. Plus NAU got beat 22-0 in steeple.

wouldn't have mattered if Colin Sahlman ate 100 pork burritos and stuffed Steve Prefontaine's ashes in the soles of his super shoes. the first 3 NAU runners in the 4x400 were dreadful, by the time Sahlman began his final leg it was over. I think he started second to last and was able to pass one guy.
Honestly, Sahlman had a very impressive anchor leg on the 4x4. I’d love to know his split. But he likely would have done more for the team had he ran the 5000 instead.
Overall it was a crazy exciting meet! Love to see conference upsets at home facilities.
Does anyone know why NAU basically pretends that the steeplechase doesn't exist? If you are a distance-focused program trying to win a conference title it seems strange to give up such a huge point swing in a distance event.

NAU honestly choked. Besides Nico and Colin the rest of the team choked. It’s like everyone is hurt or running poor
