Can we take a moment to appreciate how beautiful the scenery in some of these pictures is? I know yesterday's weather was terrible, but today it looks like heaven in Bozeman.
Cats pulled enough points even after NAU scored a lot on Saturday. Cats went 1-2 steeple and out scores NAU in the 10k . NAU out scores in 5, 1500 and 800. But cats had a lotta wins like deca, 110 hurdles, pole vault, 400, 4x4
NAU needs to get a steeple guy. It's Smith's greatest weakness as a distance coach. All these great runners and he doesn't have a single guy who wants to do it while still in college. And they only have 1 steeple woman.
Can't do much about sprints since that isn't their focus as a school, but the lack of steeple is really bad.

A 7th place finisher in the steeple would have been enough to win the team title. Would have taken a 9:15. NAU had no one entered.
Yeah it's kind of wild nobody bothers on the team. They literally don't have a single Steeple attempt this outdoor season. 2023 Outdoors they had a single attempt by Barnhill. 2022 Outdoors they had a single attempt by Espinoza. Both guys appear to have disappeared from the team unfortunately.
I maybe understand if nobody does it because they all suck, but not even attempting it a single time in some random off event this year is insane. I'm guessing they don't have a steeple setup at their school(?) But you can still race the event just practicing your hurdling and wing the water jump.
Like say you're a random Frosh/Soph and like 10th on the depth chart for 5000m times on the team. Why not do the Steeple instead and maybe sneak a point or 2 for your team? Or maybe you find a niche you excel in instead of running like 14:00+ for 5K or something.
