hello all, I was wondering what the letsrunners thoughts on the best/fastest way to build fitness in a year is to try and walk-on to a college track team next year. I am currently a senior in highschool and due to the covid year and mono have been unable to run times fast enough for colleges (4:32, 2:02, 10:07) but still think that with consistent training could run much faster. I am going to school with a good program so I am unable to walk on with what I currently have but want to try give myself another year to keep running to try and make the team. Maybe it's hopeless, but it will make a fun challenge for me so I am willing to try. So, if you were in my shoes, how would you gain fitness as quickly as possible in a year so that I could tryout for the 2025-26 season? Any type of training advice would be helpful from just straight high mileage or lots of racing.
