Also, I don't know the prize money breakdown, but World Athletics requires Bronze Label meets to have a prize purse of at least $25,000, and my understanding is that a portion of each streaming fee is supposed to go to the prize purse and Sound Running has said they'll let us know the full breakdown after the meet.
Sound Running lost my dollars after their move to having Flotrack stream their major event “the ten”
bye bye.
Do with your money what you like, but Sound Running is one of the good guys and has earned our support.
Perhaps so but they made a major error with the ten and Flotrack.
The ten was a great idea and the structure was grass roots like… The athletes that competed really made it a great event. When Fisher and Mo battled it out and ran 26:33 they put the ten on the map. Since that time, other athletes who competed solidified it as a major event.
Then the organizers sold out (in my opinion) and monetized their event. They have every right to do that but it was a bad business idea.
I will absolutely do with my money as I see fit. Always have and I spend it with a conscious.
Back when Sound Running started, they made a big deal about splitting the revenue from the livestream with the athletes. Neither they nor any of the athletes ever said how much was paid out per athlete, if anything at all.
Not sure. While looking I realized that you can stream this meet ppv instead of paying $30 for a monthly subscription though. I might watch.
I was so pumped about that.
I didn't think the meet was getting enough pub so I wrote a quick preview tonight. I guess there are advantages to being too old to want to go to bars regularly. ;)
Double Olympic champ Sifan Hassan will return to the track for the first time since last year's Worlds and the men's steeple is LOADED with US talent, but the most important race of the night is the women's 10,000 where a bun...

You're not going to find me saying I like FloTrack's price points or oftentimes their broadcast production values. But you're also not going to find me not pushing back against claims that Sound Running "sold out" and "monetized their event" by putting a meet that is required to have $75k of prize money on FloTrack for a rights fee. I'm not going to re-litigate it, but I made the argument for why that was a sensible decision (both for the business and the sport) here:
Obviously sound running attracted a great deal of talent and provided great opportunity for those athletes. From a fans perspective the main appeal of these races was the ppv aspect. How is chat feelin about buying a flo sub...

They had to move it to Flotrack because idiots like you would not pay for the PPV, there wasn't enough money, now they offer you the PPV based on all the crying, and idiots like you won't pay for it again. And you wonder why the sport is dying. You are a f***ing clown!

Regardless, I think we can both agree we're happy tomorrow's meet is on PPV. I intend to pay, view, and enjoy.
The good news is that there is never a reason to have to pay anymore. If you are in the run community, you get plenty of live streaming in IG from boots on the ground personalities. I'll be doing the same at Pre, just letting people see my perspective. All the highlights get posted within hours to capitalize on the momentum and eyeballs. That's why you see NBC upload to YouTube right away race highlights from Doha; same with Sound, everything gets uploaded to keep the audience captured. I can tell Not An Expert is over 50 years old.
