Aiming to start a 12 month training block for the half marathon and looking for advice on a reasonable goal time. I know I can get much quicker based on my past training (or lack of it) but want a gauge of what's reasonable.
Last year I set a half PB of 1:17 having averaged around 17miles/week for the preceding 4 months and 10 miles/week for the preceding month. This was my 2nd half and a hilly course (700ft cumulative elevation change), and I wasn't intending to race it until the day.
Although I've run for a long time, I've never been predominantly a runner and my training has always been inconsistent and at low mileage - also struggled with a knee issue for years which might limit total mileage going forward.
If I'm even vaguely fit (regular cardio, 10 miles/week running) I can usually hit around 36mins for 10K.
Assuming I can build up to 40-60 miles/week and on a focused training plan, what sort of half time should I be targeting for this time next year? I'm 26M, 5'9, 162lbs if it matters.
