I want to buy the new Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris or Edge Paris. I've raced my last three marathons in a Sky but have had calf cramps in every one of those.
Since the new Metaspeed shoes are only a 5mm drop, I'm tempted to change shoes however---
The Edge has the carbon plate lower in the foam stack than the Sky and I'm told that makes it softer because one has to dip deeper into the foam to engage the carbon plate.
So my question is--if the Edge has a 5mm drop but my forefoot sinks deep into the forefoot foam, wouldn't the effective drop of the shoe be much higher than 5mm?
How does forefoot softness affect drop?
