Katy and El Paso schools seem to lack depth past #2-3.

Bridgeland is another team that could podium. They won their region (The Woodlands is in that region too) and they took 6th at the state meet. They return all of their scorers including Montgomery who won the 3200 at the state meet.

Waxahachie is another team that has a great class of 2026.
They return all of their scorers from 2023. Wouldn’t be surprised if they qualify for the state meet this year (which they missed by 1 spot last year) and do even better in 2025.

Will Montgomery win the XC state title this year or will Leonard defend it?

Has to be more to it than that for a DNF. Pretty rare for a 3200 DNF.

Found in another thread that they have some solid freshmen coming in, like Anderson Mills who ran a 4:46 at the Schrader 1600. They are going to be deeper than ever

Could Austin Vandegrift possibly win the state title? They were close the last 2 years.

Austin Vandegrift has seemed to always step up at state. On paper Southlake looks to have a better top 4 needing a solid 5-7 to jump up while Austin looking deeper.

5A Girls

Lovejoy and Aledo both are young and deep in 5A. They will also be hunting at NXR, but not sure they can cover Flower Mound or Southlake.

Southlake Carroll always seems to have guys come out of nowhere. Last fall Southlake Carroll had a guy who was on JV at the beginning of the season, and at NXN he was third on the team. It wouldn’t be surprising if they find a 5th man.

5A Boys Lucas Lovejoy is so deep and looks to dominate 5A, I don’t see them competing with a Southlake Carroll or Austin Westlake at NXR though.

The Woodlands returns 4:16, 4:18, 4:24, 4:26, 4:27, 4:28, and another incoming junior who was in their top 7.

Only 2 people in this group will be seniors. I think they are working their way to get back on the podium

shes wearing a boot now so clearly it was more than just being a poor 3200 runner or whatever that clown said. hopefully shes healthy for the fall.

Sorry to hear that. Alexandra amazingly talented. A little in the shadows back to Cook and of course Humphries. She closed the gap through last year and will be a standout leader next year. She has 30 seconds on Southlake's top talent, it is just a question how deep Flower Mound can be next year. I hope she's 100% by the Fall!
