Should I get the Dragonfly 2 or the Victory 2 if I'm running about 4:30 mile? I only run the mile/2 mile/5k. I'm not sure if I should get the Victory 2 because the older Victory feels unstable af.
I feel as if I see a lot more DF even down to the 800m. Lots of 1500 guys at the pro level are still choosing DF over Vics. I think its personal preferences and how you cover the ground. IF you found the Vics unstable seems like the DF is a no brainer.
I see. Thanks for the reply. I'm just wondering because they said there has been improvements to the shoe for the stability on the Victory 2. Since I have used the old Victory 3 (honeycomb spike plate) in the past, I was considering the switch back to the Victory track spikes line.

Victory 2 isn't made for people running a race at 4:30 mile pace. So get the Dragonflies instead.

Not true at all. Plenty of women do very well in this new Vic2. It’s significantly less aggressive, and much more accommodating than the previous iteration.

It's still not made for slower paces. That's what the Dragonflies are for.
Yeah. Suck to be slow. I should just run fast then.
No need to be snippy and deliberately misrepresent what I said when I was giving you an honest answer.
There is a reason why Nike made two different shoes, not just one shoe. It's because each shoe has a different purpose. Victory 2 is for people running close to 4 minute mile pace or faster. For someone running around 4:30 mile pace the Dragonflies are the right shoe.

again, quite off the mark. 40% of the athletes in the test pool for the V2 were female. 4'30 mile/4'12 1500m pace is perfectly acceptable- whether sub elite women or high school boys.

stop. you're just making things up now. this is not based on anyone running "four minute mile pace or faster". i'm literally sitting next to one of the designing team members as i type this. "spike qn"- i would refer you to the running warehouse analysis done with Elliott recently. i believe it's on youtube.

Copying two breakdowns Elliot has given recently with RW and another youtuber. I don't Nike would ever say there is a particular pace for either spike but the bottom line is the Victory is more aggressive and the Dragonfly is more forgiving. That was the case with the last models but it seems like the new Victory is more accessible because of a more revamped midsole. I would say just from looking at them and the previous versions that the Victory seems to be more suitable to aggressive running, forefoot strikers in the 800/1500, while the Dragonfly is better for more midfoot/heel strikers who run more relaxed splits. But ultimately it's personal preference.
I'm gonna reiterate this point by saying that anyone can basically run in any spikes as long as they're comfortable for them. 2021 Olympic 800 trials had guys like Isaiah Jewett wearing Dragonflys while Clayton Murphy wore Maxflys. When I was in high school, Andres Arroyo ran the fastest HS 800 at 1:47 in Matumbos. So while the spikes have their design and intended distance built in, it doesn't mean that's necessarily what you will use them for.
