41-year-old trying to get back into racing shape after a 15-year hiatus of family life and injuries.
I did my first 5k since 2009 over the weekend and managed 21 minutes...which was sad (I was hoping to break 20). My college PR was 14:39, so I have to realistic about what's possible a couple decades later.
I'm 6'1" and 194lbs, which is a bit above my weight when I used to compete (170lbs). I'm curious how much that extra 25lbs effects race time. TBH, it would be tough to drop weight because I lift a lot so there actually isn't a ton of fat to shed.
But I do miss not being slow, so I might consider some healthy dieting to get down into the 175-180 range and see what wheels I have left.
Thoughts?
