Ramsden wins and beats McDonald on the line. McDonald looked the goods the entire race and glanced to the right near the line - when Ramsden slipped through the gap on the inside and one by a half a step.

Schoolboy error. Stewy bottled it but I guess Bideau will select him for the double in Paris
Ramsden has a 13:17. Olympic qualifier is 13:05. His PB is 13:16. World ranking is currently 68. But he won when it counted. I can't see him running such a big PB, but who knows. McDonald has a 13:07 and is ranked 67. I think McDonald has a time in him. It's easy watching on a screen but I fancy McDonald's coach will probably have a chat with him about moving out into lane 2.
I would've been pleased to see absolutely anyone else win. Objectively the worst bloke in athletics.
Can someone explain this? I'm completely unaware. What's wrong with Matt Ramsden?
He punched a teammate in the face and broke their jaw right before worlds, and he's fairly universally disliked in running here in AUS. just not a very pleasant human being

Who’s jaw did he break, and what was the context?
And for what other reasons is he disliked.
(I’m not implying that he’s a nice person, I just don’t know what he’s like.
I’m an Aussie but don’t know about this (I’m nowhere near fast enough to be closely associated with the MTC).

He s&%ts me because he gets so many Diamond League chances when better (non-Bideau) athletes don't. And he almost always runs awfully. The 2023 Kerr world record pacing job where he completely bottled it was a really big example.
He's also an ungracious d-bag. Today he acted like a flog when he won, aggressively slapped a few hands of the others. People like Hull, Stewy, Hoare....everyone really, when they win make an effort to properly acknowledge their competitors.
I would like to congratulate the Stanford Coach who totally F#@#$cked Ky Robinson's Olympic aspirations with the incredibly stupid 10k/5k double a few weeks ago on the same day. BRAVO!

"better athletes" eh? haha.. in your dreams mate. He's one of our best and deserves those opportunities. He had a couple of leaner years after performing well around the world in the lead up to the Tokyo olympics but he was impeded by injuries for much of that time too. He's still young and his best years are definitely ahead of him.

Who was the teammate?
Someone who left MTC and got a new coach and manager very shortly after Eugene when Bidders didn't want to intervene. They are now running in a group in Australia more successful this domestic season than MTC
