USATF announced today it will not be sending a team to this year's World U20 championships in Lima, Peru, held from August 26-31.
USATF cited safety, the late-summer date of the event, and concerns about competitive readiness as the reasons why they're not competing.
It's the second time in the last three editions USATF has failed to send a team -- USATF also didn't send a team to the 2021 champs in Nairobi, Kenya, citing similar reasons to this year.
I find all of this astounding considering the US will be hosting the next edition in 2026 in Eugene.
Here's USATF's full explanation.
