Mathias Kyburz of Switzerland 7th in 2:07.43, I have never heard of him, usually I have heard of Europeans capapble of that kind of time, oh well Props to him, good race.
So only the Switzerland runner affects the road to Paris list being the 69th entry with the standard. Leonard Korir is now at roughly 72nd, several people still in behind him with only a few weeks left of the qualifying window. But there are a few competitive marathons in these next few weeks.
I don't think he is former orienteer. I think he is just taking break as this year is sprint orienteering world champs and he is coming back to orienteering right after olympics. Who would rather run in a city when you can do orienteering?
The lack of depth in the women's field is about as large as I have ever seen it in a big marathon.
Women's Winner - 2:20:45
Women's 25th - 3:31:23 (gap of 1:11)
Men's Winner - 2:05:33
Men's 450th - 2:59:16 (gap of 0:54)
You're only looking at women's 'elite' results. There are plenty of women running under three hours in women's 'open'. I have no idea how someone running 3:31 ended up in the 'elite' group.
