This time at a home meet. I don’t think he’s finished but one outdoor 800 in his two years at ole miss and the lone one being last year at SECs in the prelim.

Lost his speed due to bad coaching. Needs to go back to what made him successful if he wants to ever break 150 Flatt again.
off the sauce
Break 1:50?
he just needs to finish a race.

I can not really confirm or deny but I will acknowledge some high schoolers sauce it up just for the Scholly money.
Got to believe he was just pacing. Came through 400 in first in 51.7

Why would he be a pacer?
Hope he can turn this around.

It has nothing to do with the "sauce." I don't believe that he was ever on it.
He seems typical of a lot of guys that were HS standouts only to become mediocre later. The big tipoff was his physical development. When he was in HS he already was a lot more physically mature that his peers and looked like someone in his mid-20s. Those that mature later seem to do a lot better in the long run.
As mentally unstable as his racing is you don’t tell him to pace after he just DNF a 800 last wk.
i mean he literally can’t finish a 800. His pride won’t allow him to bc he’s getting dusted.
and it’s not Adam smith fault. Smith is a great coach. He’s turned chase rose of ole miss from a meh steeple chaser to a 1:48 guy. Several 13:50ish 5k guys. Couple 3:40 1500 guys.
marcus Dropick of ole miss has run 1:49/1:50 for 800 for years, he finally broke the barrier w a 1:47 last wk. so yeah, don’t blame Adam smith.

Some guys will succeed regardless of coaching incompetence. Adam Smith is a bad coach, clearly. Wants the praise but not the heat.
Or maybe he paced both races. Could be part of some long term plan to get the qualifier late and peak at Olympic trials
Madr he needs to pursue a new sport I'd bet he'd be good at wrestling.

WWE
There is no way u honestly believe that….
I feel bad for the kid at this point. I know he gets a lot of heat for being so cocky, but he is struggling and it is a shame. I give him credit for showing up, a lot of guys would have quit by now.
He and his coach need to have an honest conversation. If he can't dig himself out of this hole soon, he's gotta find a new situation. He may be better off at a smaller school where he can be the big fish again.
He was rabbiting
Dropkick also DNFed in 1500. Ole Miss’s 2 best 800 guys DNFing after leading their races implies they were on pacing duty
