What do we make of this? "Through gritted teeth, I could say potentially because I have never actually watched a full 10,000m on TV or whatever because I find them pretty boring," said Megan Keith who just ran 30:36.
The fans seem to like The TEN Track Meet which has Very Good, but NOT Olympics World Championships, DiamondLeague level, American Fans I think like that there are a few very goodm, but not the Absolute best lets say 15 top runners add Cheptegui and Kiiplimo od Uganda, Like The Womens 10000 was won by a very good who may be a great Runner someday, but now is 2nd tier at Ethiopias level. If the meet was loaded to the Max With Many Absolute top Kenyans/Ethiopians and even the top Americans would have zero chance, I don't think American fans would like it as much, For Example they would rather see Grant Fisher win or at least have a reasonable chace to win in mid to high 26 then see him run the same time and have 4-5 ahead of him. I do think Fisher Is Extremely good even by Ethiopean/Kenyan All Time Standards
Megan wasn't born when one of the greatest 10k races on the track at the 2000 Olympics or maybe she should watch the 1964 10k with Mills coming from the clouds to win.
Lucky to be in the stadium that night in Sydney when the 10k final was closer than the 100m final.
The way modern 10000m are run are dull, I’m not that fast so I’m going to jog round and then on the last lap see who is the quickest 200m/400m runner. Yawn

She's young.
When somebody comes from the clouds to win, that's an indictment of the caliber of the race. Americans don't like to acknowledge that. It's the reason we've been mesmerized by a handful of meaningless outliers over the past 60 years while the rest of the world doesn't know or care there are any loitering Americans in the race in the first place.
Athing Mu should be the reference point, not Mills or Wottle

Yes, modern 10000s are dull, but those are the relatively exciting ones. The time trials are the even more boring ones.
There are too many sprints and distance events. It would be a lot more exciting to see all the best runners in the same race. I would choose a distance that everyone can meet at the middle at. Milers can move up to 10K, marathoners can move down. 100m sprinters can move up to 200m, 400m sprinters can move down.
In order to fully enjoy a 10000 you need to be able to read a runners body language, position in the field, moves and preferably some of his/her history against competitors - on average I think female spectators would be better at this if they tried, but then again on average they seem to take more interest in ice skaters dresses and whether female soccer players shave their legs or not. :-)

Mills and Wottle both tied or had world records, Mu does not…
in addition Mu is not very interesting as a runner. Doesn't care about the sport very much, barely races, successful when very young so no underdog story etc...

You came up with a grand total of TWO great 10k races in the last 60 years. I think you just proved her point that most 10k's aren't very exciting.
Yes...unless you coach a 10k athlete. I enjoy watching the 10k when my athletes race it. I look forward to the night of 10k pbs in England.

Right on, man! Stupid wamen just ain't smart enough to enjoy 30 minutes of people jogging.

Read again - I said that on average women should would be BETTER than men on this - hence implied that it's partly a male commenting liturgy problem that prevents the "sell" of the sport to larger audiences.
Also, and of course, those damn commercial breaks during even 10000 meter championship races makes it harder for EVERYONE to follow the intricate details during the full distance.
The Gidey-Hassan rivalry has been a good selling point for the 10000 over the last coupla years - even to those that cannot se five or two or one lap out which way the final results are starting to lean.
If I were to suggest just ONE RULE CHANGE about championship 10000 meter races it would be that lapped runners must step off the track immediately as to not be in the way for remaining contenders.
Biathlon already has this rule and it works.
I was home sick during this years Biathlon World Championship and able to watch every race on Swedish television. It's such an accepted practice already that athletes that are about to be lapped goes to the side and out of the way slightly before being overtaken without making any fuzz about it.
