Ingebrigstens 1500 pr pace is faster then Mcsweyn's 1000 time from the weekend.
Even Mcsweyn's 1500 pr pace is faster then his 1000m time from the weekend.
J Ingebrigtsen can't run faster than 2:19.00 1000m today. McSweyen raced today. You want to compare J Ingebrigtsen peak August, 2023 form to McSweyen today. Today, J Ingebrigtsen cannot race sub-2:19
The melbourne track club doesn't significantly periodize their training.
3 sessions (k reps or other track work on tuesday, threshold on thursday, hills on saturday), long run sunday, another long run (but not as long) on wednesday, and lots of mileage and doubles.
MTC runners are always close to their peak (except for maybe after a big meet like the olympics or world champs, where they probably take a longer rest period of easy running).
The 1st 400 was on pace, but at 800 he was approximately 3 seconds behind pace, and ran 2:20 for 1k.
How do you think he will go at the Aussie champs in a few weeks time, let alone at the olympics?
Seems 2-3s slow but who knows exactly where he in his training cycle annd peaking for races. I could see basically training through this race annd just getting an hard effort in. And last I read he is really a bit light on sub 1500m pace work which hurts when you are looking to race the 800-1000.

2:16 was always way beyond Stewie's capacity particularly in March. I'm pretty sure he won't be winning the 1500m at nats as Myers and Hunt are in form. Shame that Edwards isn't 100% but hopefully he will be in the next 3 weeks. Will Spencer be travelling back?
Incredible how terrible Mcsweyn continues to be in the first 50m. He must be 2 sec behind, and then stupidly sprints flat out to catch up from 50-200m. If you want to know why Mcsweyn has no kick it’s because he spend all his pennies from 50-200m. Never seen anything so bizzare. Bloke needs to see a sprint / start coach pronto. It’s downright embarrassing!

Agreed. Relative to other milers, he doesn't have great leg speed. So when the others are getting out hard, he doesn't have the out and out speed to match (also why he often loses in a kick). So he has to go hard from 50-200 to catch-up. Even the Aussie commentators (who would be as pro-Stewy) as they come comment on it. Watch him in the finish of any race. He's constantly glancing down at his legs as if wiling them to run faster. It's like watching a young kid sprint.

Whoa whoa hold on - his start is what you are worried about? You think he gives up 2 seconds in the first 50m? Okay that's absurd - at the pace they are racing he would have to stand still and spot the field 15m for that to be the case, which it isn't.
Getting off the line fast was only ever a convention - and doing so probably hurts more runners than it helps. "Yeah let me just blast my legs with 100m of running beyond my AT and then slow down into my actual race pace". Hmm - its funny how the greatest of this generation - Jakob Ingebrigtsen is actually famous for his slow starts - preferring to clearly focus on running even no matter what - even if it means giving up some yards in the first 200m and then easing into position in the next 200m by keeping his pace even.
Your comment is embarrassing. A "starts coach" for a 1500/5000m runner? Yeah okay mate.
stewie was at 2:18.7 or 2:18.8 through 1000 when he paced Jakob's 3:27.14 at Silesia. He then ran right around 28 seconds for the next 200 before dropping. I think he was pretty much all out, going 2:46.8 for the 1200. mid season form. i don't know what you could extrapolate that to for an all out 1000. I would guess 2:16 high to 2:17 mid.
and last year he was around 1.5 seconds off his peak 1500 form. so at the peak of his powers, 2:16 low might be right in the ballpark of what he was capable for 1k.

Not AT but Creatine Phosphate, baby. Jakob's also giving away time in his first 150.

Considering Shane Streich ran 2:16.16 it mostly just shows Stewie is probably best at 3K with 1500 being at the lower end of where he can be a factor.
Do Hoare and McSweyn like each other? I have the impression that they do not like each other.
Bizarre comment. McSweyn has been on Hoare’s podcast and they seemed quite friendly. Olli if anything when talking about him seems overly complimentary.
