This is an interesting story.
Victoria Ohuruogu - sister of 2008 Olyimpic 400m champ Christine Ohuruogu - was photographed at a track with her boyfriend - the banned Italian sprinter Antonio Infantino - in December of 2022. Since you aren't allowed to work in a professional capacity with a banned person, UK Athletics took her off the 4 x 400 at the 2023Worlds as a precaution. Today UKAD announced she won't be banned for assocating with a doper and she's come out with a bunch of sanctimonious statements like this :
“The allegation, its publication, and the media intrusion has cost me a great deal over the past 16 months has affected my personal relationships, cost me the chance to run in what would have been career-defining events (including in a world championship bronze medal-winning team), and caused huge disruption to my preparation and training in an Olympic year.
“It has caused me to doubt whether I can sustain a private life or even be seen with those closest to me without being accused of breaking the rules. None of that can be undone by the fact that I have now been fully exonerated.
I have just the opposite reaction and zero sympathy.
1) Don't date a doper if you don't want scruitiny and certainly don't show up a track with him in the midst of his ban.
BUT WHAT SHOCKS ME MORE IS THE FOLLOWING. NONE OF THE ARTICLES EVEN MENTION HER SISTER - THE OLYMPIC CHAMP WAS BANNED FOR A YEAR FOR MISSING 3 DRUG TESTS.
That's journalistic malpractice. Yes both sisters have never been convicted of doping and both of them could be clean. But as a math based guy, this most recent thing with Victoria makes me increase my odds that Christine was actually a doper and not someone who just missed 3 drug tests for not being careful.
