She's coached been coached by Ross Cairns for years. She has that classic British runner background: lots of local and regional XC, low stakes, low pressure. It's very different in the UK compared to the US. No one here cares at all about who holds the school mile record or whatever. It's all just about racing, no focus on times until the athletes are approaching the pro circuit. Jake Wightman was much the same, very average times as a junior compared to a lot of US athletes, but he was learning his trade. But Keith was winning XC races for the last couple of years and has moved through the levels - Liverpool XC (the big one in the UK) and World XC last year, then winning Liverpool, Cardiff Cross, and Euro XC this year.
