Let them get too far ahead or just not fit? way too much to do in the second half. Gutted of Glasgow.

Is she done also?
I think she thought the pace would be slow and was shocked to find they were running 8:20 pace. By then it was too late and she had to do a ton of work just to get on the back end of the pack.
I think she just wasn't ready for that fast of a race. When a Kenyan NR is set, you know the pace is quick.
I'm sure she'll regroup and we'll see a sharp Muir this summer.
Listening to the BBC commentary, when it was clear she was or of the race they were still saying she was in the race. When partisan punditry takes the place of informed commentary.
Probably not her best distance. She’s more 800/1500m than 1500/5000m.
She went 2:50-2:48-2:51, so I think she placed as high as she possibly could have today. She could have been a little closer if she’d been in close contact throughout, but the race went out in 64 so she thought it was wise to hang back early.
I wouldn’t say she isn’t fit. 8:29 is a pretty decent time and she beat a few really good runners. The top 4 all ran extremely well which makes her look worse in comparison. I do think she was caught off guard by the fact it was practically a time trial from the gun, and it probably shook her confidence some - like 1k into the race she was probably thinking, damn, what’s happening?
Shocked how poorly she ran. Was it a case of homeotown nerves?
The thing she is known for is being aggressive and putting herself in the mix. Yet before the hometown fans she was often off the back early.

25/1 shot....ran like a 25/1 shot .

In her 3rd best event to run here maybe. I think the honest pace was too much for her.
A good race for someone as good at the 800m as she is
Puzzling indeed. She was only 3 seconds off her PR, but still. Figured she'd be a factor at some point.
She’s had a great career but she’s not getting any younger. I predict no more medals at any world or Olympic level. She’ll retire after the 2026 European Championships in Birmingham and become a full time vet.

Worked for Katelyn Tuohy

Indeed and around 800m left Radcliffe made a comment about possibility of one of the lead quartet blowing up which seemed embarrassing straw clutching given what we could actually see. The main highlight was surely that it was a really classy global race.

nah. 3000m not her distance. Doesn’t have the endurance for this kind of 3000m pace. Not like she’s going to step up to the 5k outdoors. Its 1500m or nothing for her.
The disappointment for me was Jess Hull - last 200-400m killed her chances. Can anyone explain why she moved back to Australia with the perfect set up in the USA? she’s clearly more of a 3-5k type, but that just means altitude training is crucial. Australia is extremely flat - no altitude to speak of - and very far to get to any decent altitude. In America, you can live in large cities and towns with perfect altitude. Many towns and cities across NM, AZ, UT etc..what’s she doing back in Australia.. for me, that makes all the difference on that last 1-2 laps. Anyone know? Would love to see what succeed.

In her post-race interview with the BBC, she said she was careful not to run the first 1000m too fast, because she had tried that before and blown up. She wasn't aiming to peak for the world indoors because her main goal was later in the season but she still wanted to race in front of a home crowd. She's looking forward to getting back to the 1500m.
Her time is comparable to what she has run before for 3000m indoors; I guess she is more of an 800m/1500m runner.

That would be one fantastic career being for her, followed by another fantastic career beginning.
