Plus Kerr was asked about Jakob Ingebrigtsen saying he could have beaten Kerr blindfolded at Millrose, but for once he had no response, saying only, "No comment."
Well of course it is such a silly statement by Jakob that it doesn’t really deserve a comment. A blindfolded runner is likely to be DQd. Unless of course he is cheating with the blindfold.
A little off-topic, but then there’s not much to comment on here.
This is the second JG article I’ve read this week where he writes about Kerr improving from 7:33 to 8:00y as if those races are a 1:1 equivalent. Only one of those was a concerted record attempt in which Kerr appeared to be in extremis 3/4 of the way home. When he ran 7:33, he won over a very fit Grijalva with his last 400/200 in 54.85/26.98. If you’re closing in 54.85 in a 7:33, you’re capable of significantly faster than 7:33.
The same mistake was being made prior to the 2 mile WR attempt, when in fact I’m guessing that the fashion in which he ran 7:33 was part of what led him to target the 8:03 2-mile WR. Yeah he’s very likely improved his 3k fitness since last winter, but not by 9 seconds like JG seems to think (for one, I’m not buying the John Kellogg conversion that 8:00.67 = 7:24.9…World Athletics points tables have 8:00.67 = 7:26.18, for the record).

I think it would be hilarious if Kerr actually pulled out a blindfold after winning the Olympic 1500 and tried to run around the track with it on during his victory lap
Josh could have said, "then maybe Jakob should have worn a blindfold at the last world champs".
Sure, but in 2023 Kerr was so inferior (by all standards, except in the 800m) vs Jakob that he in a way makes a fool of himself by even thinking he is allowed to speak to the latter as piers / equals…
Kerr made a decent race in the WC 2023 -he was clearly the best runner that day (Jakob and Nuguse being sick, and Katir / Cheruiyot not qualified). But he ran some wide bends, and didn’t look sharper than in his bronze run in Tokyo, and would have had his hands full competing a 2022 Wightman… So Jakob’s blindfolded comment has some merit ( especially in the two mile)…
But I think Kerr’s improved aerobic capacity may point to a much faster 1500m pb (In time; he has never impressed in the distance). So now maybe karma will come and bite Jakob’s arse -his well founded arrogance maybe not so founded anymore. -Time will tell; exciting year!
i really want to like kerr, but starting this “feud” (remember, jakob was quiet for months) and then when jakob talk back he has ‘no comments’ (and only after grant told him) is just pathetic.

Sorry, but regardless of whether you think Jakob would have won Worlds at 100% this is pretty pathetic. 3:29 closing in 53 to win a world championship for you is “Eh decent run I guess, didn’t look great though. Never been impressed with him as a 1500 runner but who knows, he might come around some day.” Give the man due credit.
