A Chicago cop has filed a civil rights lawsuit against the city for right to change his race after the police department allowed officers to change their gender on official documents.
I love how the OP/headline think they’ve got something spicy. Gender is a social construct and entirely changeable and different between cultures/times/places. Male and female are not genders. Sex, not so.
Race? Historically in the USA if a person was had any African ancestry, even 1/16th, they were considered Black. A person 15/16th something else was considered Black. That also is a social/cultural construct and changeable.
The officer is fed up he's not getting promotions even though he scores very well on the exams. "White guys" never get promoted even though he doesn't consider himself to be white. H
It's a pretty fascinating case if you think about it as there wasn't a proper race to put down when he joined the force.

Absolute rubbish.Gender is not a 'social construct', its origins are directly because of the sex referred to. The etymology is clearly linked to 'sex' and the word 'gender' comes from the Latin 'genus', which according to definition: "Genus is a taxonomic rank used in the biological classification of living and fossil organisms...."
Gender is more inherent than that of race, which itself is actually a social construct, since all races are from exactly the same species
Yes. Race is really just a spectrum of melanin. Few people really know what their background is. They take a test and are shicked at how different it is than what Grandma thought it was. Siblings can have differnet skin color.
Why does one's employer need to document their race in the first place?
So blacks can enjoy their privileges and entitlements from structural racism over non blacks, and lesser "POC" (People of Color) can still be privileged over whites.
Why does one's employer need to document their race in the first place?
Because white employers for 4 centuries have been discriminating because of race.

The Arabic symbol for the number four is not an abbreviation for the word "for".
Many employers (not just 'white' ones, whatever that means) have discriminated against people based on ethnicity, religion, and nationality for millennia. Hard to understand how that somehow justifies putting metrics in place that at best enable those practices to continue.
One might think that the best way to stop people discriminating based on race, would be to remove it as a metric -- which is to say, to stop the organization from classifying employees along racial lines.

Mohammad Yusuf questions the logic behind said policy. If his colleagues can change their gender, can he change his race? He tried to find out, only to be met with rejection from the Chicago Police Department. Yusuf has since filed a lawsuit against the city saying he's looking to change from "Caucasian" as he "currently identifies as Egyptian and African American." Yusuf alleges that the department has repeatedly overlooked him for promotions because he's not African American.

In 2004, when Yusef joined the force, the department only offered Caucasian, Black and Hispanic as race designations. Now, the Chicago Police Department reportedly lets new recruits choose from over nine different race designations and allows officers to alter their gender identity if desired. But in Yusef’s case, the department has a “blanket prohibition” for race changes, CWB Chicago reported.
Fascinating only in so far as it shines light on the fact that the wing of the government trusted with the right to use violence in a major American city in the year 2024 is potentially making decisions about who to promote based on skin color, or worse -- based on the boxes that recruits tick upon intake.
One might hope that those entrusted with deadly force would be hired and promoted based exclusively on measures of ability and not based on some bureaucrat's idea of whether or not the company photo will properly broadcast allegiance to DEI standards set by some other corrupt or misguided bureaucrat.

The strategy is called "divide and conquer". The government needs people to hate each other, and to be dependent on government. Makes them easier to control, and less likely to join forces against the criminals running the Federal Reserve, for example.
Though sometimes Mvies and Restaurants have lower prices for Movies, so maybe it is best to change your age frequently for whatever age the situation benefits you, Smart thinking Huh? LOL

Vivek Ramaswamy wanted to get rid of the Question what race are you? And to Hire for Jobs and let into school based on EXCELLENCE. He said on his first day he would have used his pen to get rid of the Executive Order of Affirmative Action, which I think JFK started and wanted it Only for Blacks and Then LBJ expanded it to other groups including White Woman who score better on tests than men on average except for Math and Sciences, and no President has got rid of, He said he asked Trump why he did not do it, Trump said his advisors told him that is not an issue worth dieing on the hill for.
Putin said in Russia it is not asked what Race or Religion you are, and you can look at someone and tell if that person is a Man or Woman, Blacks have never rioted in Russia on any large scale, so they seem alright with being judged on Merit, so they are apparently okay with it.

The Country is only 248 years old anything before 1776 or arguably 1787 when the constitution was created,, USA was under British Rule so anything before that is on them. and even at its top White Slaveowners were less than 2% OF Whites, And Employers always wants the best workers regardless of race, so by discriminating employers would be shooting themselves in the foot.
