I've been living off old shoe stock for years now and I'm finally considering coming out of my hole to join the modern world. I'm wondering, are there any good road shoes for shorter distances?
I've always loved the traditional, lightweight, low drop flat. My shoe of choice was the Mizuno Wave Universe. I can get away with Vaporflies for the half mary, but I'm unable to run much faster than HMP because of the offset and stack height. Based on that, I tried the Takumi Sen 8 and thought it was okay, but felt a little clunky. Maybe as fast as the shoes of old, but more awkward and heavy. I could probably get away with those but it looks like the 10 has less pop, which makes it sound pretty useless.
Anyone have any recommendations of shoes that haven't been discontinued yet (i.e. speed elite?). I'm not opposed to trying something new/carbon, but ideally I'm hoping for something that maintains a little bit of ground feel and around 4mm drop.
Should I just raid California for crappy Rival waffles?
