At the Alex Wilson Invitational today at Notre Dame. Anchored ND to a 10:44.62 (#3 all-time behind Washington and Providence yesterday). T&F historians- this has to be the fastest ever DMR anchor?
Seems she has flown under the radar a bit and quietly progressed to the top of the NCAA the last few years. 8:40 in December, 4:27 two weeks ago, and now this. Excited to see what she can do in the steeple this summer.

It probably is, but the track is also oversized.
I agree it is very exciting though. She is looking like a contender to make the steeple team and possibly the favorite for the 3k title, even over Valby.

Amazing result for her. Def a contender for a steeplechase spot with that result.
As for 3k indoors — isn’t Valby injured? I think I read that in a different thread on here.
Markezich is getting 10s PRs in the 3k and a 5s PR in the mile. The real quest for her can she continue PR-ing at US trials, maybe a 15s PR in sub 9:10 in the SC? Would put her top10 in world rankings.

Yes.
Two years ago, when New Balance put together a women's DMR team to run the inaugural race at the company's newly opened The TRACK at New Balance, ESP was on the anchor.
This quartet set the all-conditions world best of 10:33.85 which still stands.
Splits (per Wikipedia):
Heather MacLean (3:14.92), Kendall Ellis (52.04), Roisin Willis (2:03.30), Elle Purrier St. Pierre (4:23.55)
Note: MacLean's 3:14.92 remains the fastest women's 1200 leg ever.

The answer is this is now the fastest anchor, but there was an anchor a year ago that was reported as slightly faster than ESP's 4:23.55
Katelyn Tuohy runs the fastest EVER DMR anchor split to help NC State win bronze at ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships. Tuohy's 4:23.36 is faster than ...
In case anyone here missed the recent citiusmag interview w/ Markezich...host Chavez suggests that his guest could win the US Olympic Trials outright. Given her trajectory and reliable ability to peak in championship races, I don't disagree.
Olivia Markezich joins the CITIUS MAG Podcast after running 8:40.42 for the 2nd fastest NCAA 3000m of all-time and placing 3rd at the NCAA XC Championships.

What makes you think that Valby is going to run the 3K? She’s not qualified and I don’t see her as running a meet to qualify. She’ll only run the 5, if that.

She could double the 3K and 5K at SECs this weekend to help with team points. Looks like she would need to run about an 8:54 to get a qualifier. She split a very comfortable 9:02 at BU during her 14:56 5K.

I don't know if Valby is running. She could still qualify at SECs. It's more the point that Markezich may very well be fast enough to beat Valby over 3k. Just speculation of course.

But I bet she will only do the 5K.
Well for those interested, the SEC meet will be on SEC Network + with the 5000 at 7:05 pm Friday, and 3000 at 5:55 pm Saturday, both times Central I think. Live timing on Flash Results.
LOL. It would be funny watching Valbymania lapping all those slow runners in the slow heat of the 3000m at the SEC meet. I'm sure she won't be running though.

I say she runs 3k only at sec. 8:54 for Valby is a jog. Reason is Florida will contend for the team title against Ark and Texas and others. Flo knows they have the 5k title but will need approx 10 extra pts to overtake Ark. that’s where Valby may be needed to run the 3k. If Asekol wins the mile over Ramsden/May/Maatoug then Valby doesn’t need to run 3k. So many cariables too much fun contemplating it all!
