Three womens' teams break DMR CR at BU (10:46.62 Washington '23)

Who ran the mile leg for Providence women? They split circa 4.26. That’d be fastest in the NCAA this year, wouldn’t it? Are they running the individual event?

Why wouldn't you just look at Tfrrs? They have the 4th fastest woman in the Ncaa. 99.99% chance it was her.

May - she's already q'd in top 5. They could end up with two, May and Flockhart.

Because they have two really good milers listed at Providence and one clearly ran the 1200m and one the mile..so, which one? Also, I’m a casual observer/fan watching from Europe and I was remarking on a great run from the mile leg and surprised no one is talking about it. It was a remarkable leg from May. Thank you to the person who replied above that it was indeed May. Great run from her!

Washington anchor Carly Thomas had a 1.6 second gap at the final exchange and then went out in 62 opening up a huge gap before she slowed down. May and Chamberlain caught up but Thomas had saved some for a final surge that the other two couldn't match.

NCAA champs should be a great one but a lot will depend on which legs are running doubles or skipping the DMR.

Does Markevich run the DMR and the 3000 or the mile and 3000 or all three?

The times this year are just crazy overall.

The biggest opponent of all these teams will be the time schedule at NCAAs, with 2 hours between the mile heats and the DMR finals, and one hour between the 800 heats and the DMR.

Washington was dead last at NCAAs last year. For all those teams, it comes down to who you trust/travel as relay reserves to run the DMR given that most of your runners have individual events.

Quite true. Usually the best DMRs have the quality 3000 runners on anchor. Hard for one of the top mile qualifiers like May, Asekol, Ramsden to skip mile and focus on DMR. But Markezich is #1 on 3000.

Lauren Gregory ran both mile / dmr last year. I could see providence, Florida doing the same with May and Asekol for example.

Otoh though, what is Washington going to do with Carly Thomas? She has a shot to beat Micaela Rose in the 800m or to podium (or possibly win) in the mile too.

Washington ran without Sophie O'Sullivan, who ran in the open mile last night, and who may/may not be in peak condition. She didn't take the cross country season off after her summer campaign & has bigger fish to fry this summer since she has the Olympic 1500 standard.

The time schedule is the same for the men--2 hours between the mile & DMR and about an hour between the 800 and the DMR. Northern Arizona men just popped a 9:17.43 at Notre Dame with North Carolina & Michigan under 9:20.

The DMR, to me, stays fresh because of the carnage we sometimes see after people go out too fast on their legs.

It also can lead to insane splits and great individual performances too ofcourse.

Willis goes out in 56.1 on her 800m leg! Loved it…givin it socks and risking it.

Why isn’t dmr part of outdoors? It’s the best t&f event, incredibly exciting, has tons of strategy figuring who runs what leg.
