I am a bit ambivalent here as there comes a point where he could almost appear to be a caricature of himself, this brash cocky (his fanboys may say “matter of fact” instead) kid who can usually back it up. It won’t be so endearing when he cannot back it up, and I wonder if he is partially speaking “tongue in cheek” at times just because he wants to entertain or increase interest. I credit him for making himself easy for me to root against in races.
Jakob is a gift to us track fans. He's like Muhammad Ali at this point with these quips:
"I'd have beaten him blindfolded" "It's great he's improving, so that I have someone to run with"

you talking about jakob or kerr? your comment can apply to both.
You missed this gem from the same article: “Either they have a lot of free time, or they miss me very much.”
Whoever wins in Paris, someone is going home devastated.
It's kind of weird because I've heard very little from the other guys about Jakob, but Jakob pops up every week with a new interview talking about Josh or Jake.

I guess he has more free time with his injury...
I guess you missed Kerr’s podcast tour this summer. Plenty of barbs thrown from both sides.
Jakob the GOAT will wipe the floor with Kerr in Paris. Kerr will have his hands full enough trying to cut around Nuguse's long legs to start his kick. Will have to contend with Kessler for bronze.

i guess because he is home, the reporters are calling more often or making house calls more often. i think he is typically away from home for 2/3 of the year.

I’m pretty sure it’s the other way around, Jake and (more often) Josh always have something to say about Jakob in almost every interview now. Jakob to my knowledge has only talked about them twice, maybe three times.

Of course Jakob comes off as a little silly / petty when he says Kerr hasn’t shown improvement since he didn’t run a 2 mile last year (should have known he ran a 7.33 3k that a 8.00 2 mile is a great improvement of).

I like that he's getting involved in the banter with Kerr, but he's no Ali. Most of his jibes don't land well, possibly a result of translation/him speaking in a second language. His best quip was when, after an easy win, he said you can't blame his competitors for not being better.
Nevertheless, the willingness of Kerr and Jakob to build a rivalry is good for athletics
