I'm a hobby jogger sort of have a 3 shoe rotation. Sort of, but not really, because I don't have shoes that are dedicated to racing or speed work and I don't own a pair of spikes.
Saucony Triumph 20 & Hoka Challenger ATR 6 - most of my runs are in these shoes. For running on dirt trails I usually go with the Hoka.
Saucony Kinvara 14 or whatever the latest Kinvara may be - speed work, road races, community XC races.
I have thought about getting a pair of plated shoes but TBH, I enjoy cycling more ad doubt that they would help much. Also, I don't really care if I run faster.
I do some 5K & 10K road races and there are some community XC races in the summer that range between 2 miles and 5K. I probably only race about 6-8 times total throughout the year. My 5Ks are typically in the high 16:00 to low 17:00 range. On a flat course and if I'm feeling good I can run in the low 16s. About 5 years ago I was typically in the 15:30 range. 10 Ks are normally in the 36:00 to 38:00 range.
