Any nut jobs out here still running after a hip replacement and tried supershoes?
Any nut jobs out here still running after a hip replacement and tried supershoes?
I don't know about after a hip replacement, but I was diagnosed with stage 2 osteoarthritis of the hip and told to stop running 4 years ago, and since then I've been back to running with super shoes and less pain than ever.
No hip replacement, but I got the super shoes anyways.
Just fuggin send it
Plenty….check out the hiprunners group in Strava. Why do you ask?
No hip replacement, but I couldn’t train everyday on hard surfaces with old style flats as I would have niggles with my knees and hips - supershoes made that vanish.
in your case, i would get a very soft and stable supertrainer.
This is promising to hear. I've haven't run much the past decade (after running DI in college) bc of hip impingement issues and now a partially torn ACL (healed enough it's not an issue running, but it caused a different knee issue now), but I had wondered if maybe the super shoe trainers would be something that would make running easier on my bad hips and knee. I might look into getting a pair of the super shoe trainers just for training since it seems people here are citing less leg issues/random pains when using them.
which "supershoes" would you try? i have never run in "supershoes" but if there's less pain then i am willing to try
I'm confused, honestly, I have always assumed super shoes were intended just for racing and wore out fast. Are there training super shoes and can you give me some examples?
I have developed bad knees after over 45 years of running and would be great if these helped...
not nuts, any dumbs
I don't know if I believe they really wear out fast. I have been running in the Nike Pegasus Turbo 2 for a few years (sadly no longer made though). It's no longer made but uses the same Nike foam as the super-shoes. They hold up just fine for me for 500 miles or so. I weigh 135 lb. I'm not saying the super shoes will give you the same 4% boost at 500 miles, but for regular training I bet they're just fine.
I think the invincible runs use ZoomX (super foam) so that is an option for a plush trainer, maybe also the superblast but not sure
My supershoes cost me an arm and a leg.
Hip's intact, though.
When you were diagnosed, did you have an "event" that left you hobbling so you started following up and ended up with an MRI that gave you the diagosis? or was it just slowing getting painful over time?
i was just told that i probably haven't had cartilage in my knee for like 10 years but i never had knee pain until one bad step. Said i would need to stop running in order to preserve the knee.
Did you every have a hylaruonic acid injection?
Thanks much
