What training requirement to first man run a sub 12:30 / 26:00 @ 5000m/ 10000m?
1) Only a need of 5-6 training sessions per week.
2) Paces @ maxVO2 intervals 60-61 sec/ 400m. Lactate threshold intervals @ around 2:45 min / km . Easy steady runs 3:30- 3:40 min / km.
Looking too easy and simple to be reality? Of course not. If one knows the physiological "laws" and understand the relativity theory by Einstein and mathematics it's very clear this training will lead to sub 12:30/ 26:00.
But of course there is a need of a super talented runner to be able to perform this training week after week......
Allready we have seen the best runners of today doing the same paces or faster in training , but they rarely do them year around and they often train too much and close to the limit when it comes to mileage the body can take without breakdown, overtraining and injuries.
Less is more, but very few coaches and runners have this understanding.
