Tuohy last raced 11/18/23 and was defeated by four other women. No other women in the race have left college to go pro. It seems odd that the fifth placer would ?

Really?
She’s a 4-time NCAA Individual Champion. She’s a 4-time NCAA Record Holder. (Oh and a member of the team that won THREE X-Country Championships).
Following xc she had a slight hamstring injury and has been building since then. No Millrose for her this year
Man she has been "off" for a long while now. She was sick at nationals (basically at death's door step according to her fans but heroically finished nonetheless) and now she's injured. To me it looks like she has been out of her groove for a long time now and not able to keep herself healthy enough to race championships well. Is this on the athlete or on her coach?

Kinda makes sense she went pro.
They don't give out contracts for team titles. If they did Brodey Hasty would be a hot commodity
Plenty of pros won NCAA championships and later proceeded to place less than first at NCAAs (Fisher, Hicks, Jacobs, honestly likely to happen to Robinson) and nobody bats an eye because they shouldn't. Don't pile on Katelyn Tuohy silly reasons, she's obviously a force of a runner who evidently should be pro.

Yeah but her “off” was still 5th at NCAA nationals and 8th at USAs 5000m. Not horrible.

Besides Parker Valby and probably Doris Lemngole, I don’t think anyone else could consider 5th at XC nats an off day. Don’t think even on her best day she was beating Valby, but she made quick work over the likes of Markezich, Maatoug, etc. during the regular season, even beating Orton’s NCAA XC course record. I don’t really think she was so much off last year as everyone thinks, just think more so parker took a huge step up.
