Take this to the nearest bank: Kiplimo will never break another record apart from the current half marathon that he has which Ebenyo is coming after!!!!
How can you announce that you're going for the WR and then you run 30 seconds slower than It in 10k km?
It's so disappointing.
On the website of the race, the organisers said that there would be an attempt of WR for the womens but not for the mens. It was clear that Kiplimo had no intention to beat the WR today.
Not sure what happened as far as logistics, but having one pacemaker who drops out after 2k apparently means that the plan was altered to merely have this be a qualifying run for Paris.

Hate to burst another bubble, but you can’t qualify for the olympics on the track with a road race haha.
As things stand, a man with a 28:30 pb and a woman with a 34:01 pb would be going to the 2023 Worlds thanks to their cross country rankings. And is US Army member Emmanuel Bor being punished for running World XC?
Why allow some pro runner to disappoint you? Their race results should generate nothing more than a passing curiosity in you. If they actually disappoint you, it's because you chose to let them.

It’s bad enough running with a pacemaker but worse for one to just drop out mid-race.
The Spanish runner of Moroccan origin, Abdessamad Oukhalfen, broke the Spanish 10-kilometer record on Sunday with a time of 27:44 in the Valencia Ibercaja 10-kilometer race, surpassing the best Spanish time in the distance, which was recorded by Tony Abadia (27:48). The race was won by Ugandan runner Jacob Kiplimo, the current world record holder for the half marathon, with a time of 26:48, while Swiss Dominique Lobalo broke the European record with a time of 27:14.
Kiplimo’s XC triumph last year was also superior to 26:24. He buried guys in 26:45 shape and faster. If the intent is there, he’ll take down that record.
