my guess is his IT Band took a long time to heal and he's not 100% yet or maybe he was doing rabbit duties. I recall he was at Nuttycombe but didn't run either A or B race.

He had pacing duties tonight. He led for the first 3 laps and then jogged it in. Colin won in 4:09. Not sure what that is in Flagstaff altitude conversion time.

Do you know if Easton was also pacing? I've been hoping to see him come back from injury in a good spot.

Yes he was also pacing. He dropped out midway through and Aaron took over pacing. By the way both Sahlmans ran 49 secs in their open 400.
Congrats. Where are all the haters who said he’s wasting his time at NAU, that Smith will waste his talent, that he should transfer. All those accusations after just 1 month. Haters, give Sahlman a break and let him develop. By next year if he’s no better than HS, then you can demand he transfer.
The conversion is like 9.2 seconds I'm pretty sure.
As to everyone else saying it was bad. He was on pacing duties, and from what I heard from people in Flag the whole team did a workout earlier that morning.
49.38 and 49.51. I was worried after seeing the 4:25, but it looks like Aaron in great shape. He ran 50.05 in HS 2 weeks before running 1:49.0, so he may be in PR shape already. 49.51 to open up indoors has me excited to see what he can do this year. Is Mike Smith trying to stock up on 8/15 runners since he has 2 of the best 5k/10k guys in the NCAA? Maybe that's why Aaron didn't run XC? I feel like a .5s 400 PR at the start of indoors would be hard if you're coming off a long XC season.
how the hell are there college athletes running over 6 minutes in the mile?? huh. am i reading these results wrong somehow? a million guys over 5 also??
I'm glad to see both Sahlmen running sub-50. For those in Flagstaff, how has Aaron looked in workouts? Is he 100%? Given the fact that he raced on his injury for a while, no one was surprised that he didn't do much in cross. However, I'd think that he's had time enough for recovery by now, six months or so after his last track race on the injury, and should be able to build a base for a strong track season with times well ahead of his hs times, if he is healthy and has the team mentality. Any news from the high desert on this?
