She was on carrie tollefson's podcast recently. It doesn't sound like Jenny is showing up just to show up - she's going to compete. Hope she has a good day!
Jenny is 37 and she is finished as a top competitor. She will be lucky to finish in the top 10. No chance she is ever on a US team for a global championship again.
She is a baller and a multiple time WC medalist (including gold, albeit in 2011) and Olympic medalist. She wouldn’t compete if she didn’t believe she had a shot at making the team. I think she will be in the mix for a spot. Otherwise why not just take a payday and toe the line at Boston?
I’d be very surprised if some Again to Carthage stuff happened, but I’m hoping she has a good experience. Always a fan.
Always a fan? I always assumed she was one of the most universally disliked pros in recent history.
What is the basis for your assumption? I'm a fan as well. She was a great racer and always competitve, even if her personality was a little off-putting at times.

How old was Keira D'Amato when she broke the US marathon record?

sort of disagree. Jenny is a pure runner...one of the few pros who would run even if she were slow. I think she loves the pomp and circumstance of the olympic trials and actually would forego a Boston payday to have the experience of another trials even without a chance of making the team.
Remember she's not with NB anymore so her Boston connection is weaker. Ok and really...how much is Boston going to give her anyway?

37 ain't too old for marathoning.
Pulling for her
Yeah well for the vast majority 37 is too old to be a great runner, or to be at one’s best. Do you even follow the sport?
I love her. I briefly met her in Colorado after her freshman year at CU. She was so thin!
I'm pulling for her but I don't have a good feeling about this. She never really showed any interest in longer distances during her hay day in the 1500. I hope she proves me wrong.

Carlos Lopes was 37 when he won the Olympic marathon. He was 38 when he set the world record.

Yes I know the history of the sport. Aberrations exist. Kipchoge is one, as is Bekele. Jenny Simpson is unlikely to be one.
