Lots of stats in this survey, but I thought the most popular shoes was quite interesting. Anyone on here use the Hoka Cliftons or Nike Pegasus as their staple training shoes?
In its annual deep dive into the stats and attitudes of their users, Strava has revealed some surprising news, including that UK women are over twice as likely as the global average to feel unsafe on a run
I've been running almost all my training in the Pegasus since the 33s and have felt no reason to switch. They aren't a super interesting shoe, but they do the job. Plus, you can get the older models for about 70-80$/pair at outlet stores which is a much better deal than what other brands offer.

I run in Cliftons, and I see a lot of other people up here running in them too (same for the Pegasus). From my anecdotal experience, this is an expected outcome based on tons of articles about the most popular running shoes for trainers.

I wore the pegs all throughout college and they were fine, my fav was the peg 37. The 39’s on just got too bulky. However they never last long for me because I supinate and the outside of the shoe is not that durable.
since leaving college running I’ve turned to the Clifton 8 which took some getting used to in terms of new calluses, but I think they work better for me over all. It’s much easier to try and correct my supination, and the outside of the shoe lasts longer for me. I’ve got about 400 miles in my current Clifton’s and am only just now starting to notice they’ve depleted. For the pegs I’d notice depletion around 300 miles
That's really not earth-shattering except for the fact that the Pegasus is junk.
50 years old, been running since 1986, have worn exclusively Pegasus since at least 1990 and probably earlier.
Buy two pair at a time and alternate daily, almost always put a little over 1,000 miles on each pair before replacing them.
Ran a little over 4,000 miles in 2023.
Only injury I've ever had was an IT Band issue that developed during a marathon in 1997 (wearing racing shoes at the time).
I hate Nike and refuse to buy any of their clothing but I will always wear Pegasus. As someone else noted, go online and find older versions of them and get them at a cheaper price.

Runners get used to a shoe and see no reason for change. I’ve worn Pegs throughout the years but have recently switched over to Saucony Triumphs and can’t see going back as Pegs have been exposed as mediocre.
How many people don't bother updating their shoes in Strava? I find their shoe tracker to be so tedious that my Adidas Bostons from 2019 have logged every mile I've run since.
I have run mostly in Cliftons since the 2. They were the only shoes that seemed to prevent my sesamoiditis from flaring up. The last pair of Cliftons I purchased were the 8s and I have noticed over the last year (2023) it has barely flared-up. I've added shoes with less cushioning to my rotation and so far so good.
I think Cliftons are great for injured or injury-prone runners with good form. Slow runners (anyone running over 930 pace imho) benefit from them too.
