The altitude is even higher in Larmie. Is the weather too bad? Is it lacking in infrastructure compared to Flagstaff? Is it just not as nice of an area? Is the altitude too high? What is it?

Laramie is actually awesome. Has great infrastructure and is only 2 hours from Denver (flights). Plenty of great soft surface running spots, endless dirt roads (more than flag), trails, etc.
The weather is BRUTAL. Very windy but the winters will destroy you.
Haha this thought came to me when I saw a list of highest altitude D1 schools and how they all have a better kenpom rating than BPI, so BPI must not give as much credit for hoke wins to higher altitude teams. Seeing Wyoming well above NAU made me think of this.
The winters there are awful. For 3 months the average high is 32, average low is 10. But that's not what makes it terrible. The annual average wind is 12 MPH, with 15 MPH in January. Even in the summer there are only a few hours a day that are tolerable with the wind. It consistently drops into the 30s in the summer mornings with high winds.
Plus it's a tiny town rural town. Not exactly friendly for running.

Those are not tough winters. Plus that average high should be closer to 35. Wow you people are soft.

It’s also very sunny and a very dry cold.
25 degrees there is like 45 degrees on the east coast.
I'm getting the sense that the classic Lavell Edward's quote "I'd rather lose and live in Provo than win and live in Larmie" has a good amount of people agreeing with it, or some version of it where Provo is replaced with some other city
