13.1 mile PMP. Probably went too fast. Being at sea level threw me off. CJ is coming off being sick, but helped me through 5 miles and from 9 to the finish. 61:55 or so for the half.
Yeah he probably got a bit excited and went out too fast. Still a good sign though to be able to run a 61 high HM in training and since its 5 weeks out its not like a hard effort now is going to negatively affect his race.
I believe that with a healthy Conner Mantz there are 3 Americans that can run sub 2:07 on a perfect day. Clayton Young, Scott Fauble, and CJ Albertson are not on that list.

In the last 200 years there are 3 Americans who have broken 2:07 and you are saying there are 3 currently who can do it?!? I don't think so. I would say currently there are ZERO Americans who can break 2:07.

It was a planned pmp. He said he ran it a little too fast. He never said that was his marathon pace. Does bode well for him though.
There is a history of people doing runs like this and then not coming close in the race. It is just too easy for people to do runs like this 10s to fast.
but the dude is a huge favorite off his body of work. His bad day is a 2:09 which should win

A Half at MP is not that hard. In the past I have done Half Marathon races 3 weeks before my Marathons (not a good idea) and ran them 100% and was able to recover "ok". I know, not the smartest thing to do...
This run doesn't really tell me anything. He is a sub 61 guy in a real race, so a 'too fast' half marathon effort in training at basically 62 flat sounds about right. He was already a likely top 3 guy, so still anticipated to be a top 3 guy.
