.. or are we going to keep it "indoor" for qualifying for the Indoor Championships.
e.g. Is Dempsey Indoor no longer a qualifying track for "Short Track" championships?

What are you talking about?
This terminology change was asinine
Short track just sounds awful.
Short track by world athletic definition is a 200 meter track
So many US indoor 300 meter and other oversized tracks would be ineligible for the short track designation. However, 200m outdoor tracks would qualify for the designation
Because indoor track is mostly a winter sport I don't think the NCAA is gonna ditch it for short track. I also don't expect many US colleges/facilities to build 200m outdoor tracks for short track racing

Not many? I don't expect ANY college to build an outdoor 200m track.
of interest, world athletics changed their website today to remove the word "indoor" from all the profiles. indoor and outdoor PBs used to be displayed in separate tables, now they are all together with the "sh" abbreviation used for short track.
i actually like the idea but think it will take at least a few years for people to actually start speaking this way, and in the mean time it will definitely confuse some people (i first thought it meant that the mark was invalid because the track was later discovered to be less than standard lap distance).
