I need advice for choosing a college running program.
We are a running family and my daughter wants to run in college. She is a junior, and probably a D3 runner. It's unclear whether she will go east or west, we have ideas. Her passion is the 800, as a sophomore she ran a 2:23, also went to CA state in XC and ran a 3 mile road race under 18:45. At 15 she ran the mile close to 5:30. I suspect she'll run 800 in 2:17 this year, she's running great so more could be possible. She hasn't had many perfect opportunities to race to her limits. She did not run in middle school, and coming out of the pandemic could barely run around the block so her evolution is just 2 1/2 season so far, she's not one of those girls who started in 6th grade.
College for her will be about being an amazing student though. She is sharp as a tack in particular in math and has a 4.2 GPA so far with all A's. She is interested in economics and some technical things too.
I've identified a few criteria for evaluating running programs (and colleges) but am only getting started. It's clear you can read about most coaches and programs on Let's Run. Should I just do that? Are there any resources or threads on the forum for this? Thanks!
