NAU women are on the verge of starting a dynasty in xc. The men are going to have to contend with a powerhouse OK State team for a while and depth alone won't cut it with the top African recruits they're getting.
Why are you so obsessed with NAU? Are you an alumni?
an alumni and fan. sorry if I come off as obsessed but there's literally no other place on the internet where anyone cares about NAU track and field.
on the bright side at least I'm not obsessed with Katelyn Tuohy or Parker Valby. (although once Katelyn starts training at altitude with Smith I'm sure I'll become twice as annoying)

first Kiki Vaughn, daughter of pro runner Sara Vaughn.
and today Makenzie McRae, daughter of ultrarunner Sally McRae commits to NAU.
interesting Colorado offered them both scholarships but they chose Flag (Sara Vaughn even went to Colorado)
Makenzie McRae is a legit recruit, ranking top 50 in the nation in the 3200m last spring and ran 4:53 for 1600m. Vaughn is a bit more interesting, as she's run 2:13 and 4:59 (1600m) which at wouldn't even get her a partial scholarship at NAU. Great choice for both runners though.

I wonder if Brent went there also.
Exactly. There are some goofy beliefs on here about kids based on where their parents graduated. Nobody here even knows the size of the offers from either school. Sure, Wetmore/Burroughs might be out of gas and playing out a string. I doubt they'd shoo away someone who could be a good fit for the program. Just because you ran fast or had parents who were outstanding doesn't mean you're ready to make the right sort of contribution. I'm pretty sure Kiki's mom was kicked out of Potts Field.
My comment isn't about these two particular recruits, 2:13/4:58/17:44 xc and 2:16/4:53, probably times at altitude except that xc time, and so worth a flier for a program that improves runners a lot, especially given the lineage, but rather about the recruits and transfers NAU has already gotten.

NAU is the #1 program - we are all obsessed with all things NAU! Keep up the excellent work MH.
The two new recruits Doesn't change their projected lineup, does it? 1 Elise Stearns 2 Alyson Churchill (from FSU) 3 Ali Upshaw 4 Keira Moore (may be injured so if healthy/fit) 5 Karrie Baloga (from CU) 6&7 Maggie Congdan/Ruby Smee/Emma Stutzman/Maisie Grice.

for a message board (supposedly) about running yet full of threads on Trump, Israel, Trump, Taylor Swift, and Trump I'll keep flying the NAU flag.
and I suspect all the new NAU recruits redshirt next year. incredibly deep team.

All true. Layer in :
1. NAU has the best coach in the NCAA,
2. the best trails,
3.the best pro teams (OAC is the closest competitor)
4. flagstaff is home to almost all pro runners, and is the running meca of America, similar to what el doret is to Kenya.
No wonder recruits and transfers are going to NAU .
