Pretty quick turnaround from 2:27 in NYC last month. Kosgei must fancy her chances--and a nice payday (US$50K)--against Dibaba & Chepkemoi. The ultimate goal may be to earn a spot on the national team selected for Paris. Winning time at Abu Dhabi was 2:20:41 last year. If she's fit and focused, Kosgei should crush this.

As I said elsewhere, may need a sub 2.16 to get the Kenya shirt in Paris

About 23 hours til the start. No more Dibaba and chepkemoi: just Hawi feysa

Where are the local elites? Why aren't the top UAE runners racing this?
I don't think women arre allowed to run... Unless they run with long tights, armsleeves and a 'sport hijab"... I'm not sure that's very apropriate for a marathon in +80F...
Kinda a no-brainer for Kosgei to run this. Big payday possible with a 2:17-2:20, and you have to imagine jogging the first 23 miles of NYC has led to a quicker recovery than usual.
I don't like her chances for making the Kenyan team though. Have to imagine Obiri/Chepngetich are locks, and displacing Peres Jepchirchir feels unlikely unless there's injury/a huge time (sub-2:17 at least) involved.

I agree. With excellent pacers in 70+F temp, 2:17-low.

I don't think Ruth Chepngetich is a lock given her DNFs in Tokyo and Eugene.
