Footlocker is terrible. NXN is the real national Championship
To put things in perspective, two of the Utah boys in the race (20th and 26th places) finished higher today than they did in their classification at the Utah state meet (31st and 28th).
Griffith I believe is a 4:07 and 8:48 type and Pajak is really good..followed these guys in Pa. for two years..would certainly have been top 5 types at NXN, in my opinion. Very very good runners.

Yes that's how racing works sometimes. Nathan Rummler from Lone Peak got 4th at the Utah 6A meet and not only lost to those kids, but didn't even qualify for nationals at FL West. Sometimes kids have good days and sometimes bad.

You don’t say.
The guys I referenced ran fairly consistent with how they’ve run all year, which supports the claim that Foot Locker is much weaker than NXN.
It may well be up and down and depth wise not what NVN is now..But ...Griffith and Pajak can run with anyone anywhere..win? Maybe not, but ,in the mix, absolutely. These guys are really really good to great HS runners.

Fun fact, 29 of the 30 guys that beat Zach Hillhouse at states also ran at NXR SW. Do you know how many of them beat him there? 2. Danny Simmons and Samuel Ghiz. He lost to all 14 AF and Herriman runners at Utah states and only lost to Simmons at NXR SW. Maybe he was getting better at the end of the year and would have done similarly well at NXN?
I do think NXN is better to be clear, but using kids doing better at FL than their own state meet as the reasoning when they also did better in their NXR race than at their own state meet is bad logic.

Fun fact, he finished 9th at NXR but was still only the 7th guy from Utah. Another fun fact, 9th at NXR to 20th at Foot Locker also demonstrates how weak FL is in comparison. Zach’s performance at FL is much more consistent with how he ran during the regular season, where he never finished top 10 in any major in-state meets but was still top 20 at FL, than his NXR performance, where he ran lights out but couldn’t even qualify for NXN.

But we’ll never know just how well they could compete with the best guys because they decided to run the JV race. I’m an old-timer and FL will always be my meet, but it was not a competitive field this year.
That was an exciting race, but why were the announcers so poor this year. When Griffith was clearly going to win, they were like "Pajak's closing" when he stood no chance. Also, they were, like, not even sure who the top runners were the 2nd time on the big hill. It was so awkward.
They weren't good at calling the race in the heat of the moment at all.

Again you are missing the point. The point is that you are choosing to take his 20th place at FL as "in line" with his Utah results and not as yet another phenomenal performance after his great race at NXR. NXN is better than FL, yes. 20th at FL is in no world "in line" with 31st at Utah 6A meet. He beat some really good kids today.
